CHIME + ScaleHealth: Workforce Challenge 2023

Shining a spotlight on groundbreaking healthcare solutions… 

A partnership between CHIME Innovation and ScaleHealth, designed to promote creative solutions from start-ups and early-stage companies to the healthcare leaders who need them. The Finalists and Honorees of the challenge are showcased below.

The Concept

CHIME Innovation teamed up with ScaleHealth to offer the CHIME Membership Ecosystem an opportunity to identify startup companies with high alignment to their most pressing industry “pain points” and low risk to collaborate, based on ScaleHealth’s innovation marketplace de-risking platform.

The Process

• Invite CHIME Member CIOs to participate –  We had nine great health systems who participated in this third challenge. We scheduled Zoom calls and interviewed them about their biggest challenges in 2023 related to Workforce issues like staffing, retention and burnout. Participating providers “CHALLENGED” ScaleHealth to find the top companies with the highest alignment with their biggest areas of concern and lowest risk in three categories.

• Invite Startups in the ScaleHealth Innovation Marketplace to apply –  More than 70 companies applied to participate in the challenge.

• Narrow the list to Finalists –  They answered a series of questions in a variety of categories in the ScaleHealth platform’s custom Rubric, including HIPAA compliance, information security, and overall business health.

• Present the Finalists –  The six resulting Finalists and Honorees were invited to meet attendees of our CHIME Innovation Summit in Clinical Informatics, a pre-conference event at CHIME23 Fall Forum.
